This foyer had been the entry point to a loving family home. That much was evident, but these clients wanted to update the space after years of hard service.
Before
With the children now old enough and the teething puppies long gone, it was time to replace the dated wallpaper, repair and brighten the trim, doors, banister railings, and give the spaces some careful attention.
- The foyer had been the entry point to a loving family home.
- But… the wallpaper was peeling up at the edges.
- The bannister railings had been chewed by the dog and were chipped from years of use.
- The stairway carpet was due for replacement
- The trim needed help.
- More trim in need of help.
- The upstairs hallway connected via the stairway with the foyer, so, although the wall surfaces weren’t in bad shape, it was decided to paint them as well.
- A few areas in the upstairs hallway showed evidence of puppy teething pains, and needed repair.
- More details to work on.
- This needed some help too.
My clients chose a light neutral color for the walls that had just a hint of a pink to it. The trim paint was a creamy off-white satin. Valley Paint, Blacksburg, VA, as always, came through with a great product in their Benjamin Moore Natura no VOC interior latex
New carpet for the stair and upper hall was installed by the good people at Floored in Christiansburg, VA.
After
The final result was a fresh clean feel in the main arteries of this home.
