This client wanted to add a level of finish to create two spaces in their garage basement. The walls and doors we added allowed the space to be used as a martial arts training room on one side and a quiet medicine room on the other. Steel fire-rated doors had to be used to maintain code-compliance for the garage space. We also added insulation, drywall, trim, and paint, but left the floors as concrete. This would be fine for the workout space, and allow the client to install laminate wood flooring in the medicine room later on their own.
Progress
- Framing in
- The martial arts workout studio will use the space on the left
- The medicine room will be behind this wall and to the right.
- Insulation up and sheet rock is next
- Insulation
- Early stage drywall
- Some areas needed extra help
- More patching of the existing walls
- Looking back toward the medicine room
- The martial arts training studio to the left
- My sister helped me on this project so that I could meet several deadlines.
- Not exactly your typical drywall finisher.
- Getting closer – early stages paint
Completion
There is more to do to set up the space, including likely installing flooring in the medicine room. For now, it’s complete!
- Painted, trimmed, complete.
- The martial arts workout studio has a roll-up metal door to allow for long training sequences.
